Denis Pearl, NCAT Redesign Scholar
Denis Pearl is a Professor of Statistics at The Ohio State University whose research interests are in statistical phylogenetics, biomarkers of cancer, and statistics education. He led the team at Ohio State that developed the “statistics buffet” course redesign as part of the National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT) Program in Course Redesign.
Denis is also the director of the Initiative for Quantitative Education Research Infrastructure (INQUERI) that is dedicated to establishing a supportive national environment for education research in the STEM disciplines.
In April 2012, Dr. Pearl visited RIT to share his experience redesigning his multi-section course, Introductory Statistical Concepts, using the NCAT model of course redesign and again revising the course for Ohio State’s quarter-to-semester system conversion.
