myCourses, RIT’s course management system allows instructors to post course-related information, interact with students, and conduct classes in a secure environment. In myCourses, faculty can share readings and links, post a syllabus, share grade information with students, accept assignments securely, check written assignments for plagiarism, and more.
The quarterly Heavy Hitters list recognizes faculty who demonstrate a high level of student interaction within RIT’s online course management system, myCourses. Heavy Hitters may use myCourses to teach online, blended, or on-campus courses.
To calculate the Heavy Hitters list, interaction within myCourses is averaged by the number of people in the class. Interaction includes:
While a high rank in this metric does not necessarily mean that excellent teaching and learning occurs in the course, we believe that there is a high correlation between interaction and quality instruction.
