Are you interested in learning more about the incredible range of work RIT professors do in environmental history, policy, sustainability, and science?

How has RIT shaped understanding of issues like toxic waste, air pollution, sustainability, and other environmental challenges?

Join your colleagues at this presentation on environmental studies at RIT.

1)  In the first session, Dr. Richard Newman, author of Love Canal: A Toxic History From Colonial Times to the Present, (click here for a review), will discuss his research on one of the most famous disasters in American history and the way RIT shaped the book in both the classroom and the scholarly archive.

2)  In the second session, a panel of four RIT experts will discuss key issues in their work and teaching:

  • Dr. Callie Babbitt, Golisano Institute for Sustainability: The Environmental Implications of Emerging Technologies
  • Dr. Kaitlyn Stack Whitney, College of Science/College of Liberal Arts: Diversifying Environmental Studies
  • Dr. Kristoffer Whitney, College of Liberal Arts: Environment and Disability
  • Dr. James Winebrake, Dean, College of Liberal Arts: Environmental Policy and the Transportation Industry

This event offers RIT faculty and students a terrific opportunity to learn more about interdisciplinary approaches to the environment, whether in the classroom, in their research and grants, or in the broader community.

FREE Books:

  • The first 50 faculty registering will receive a free copy of Dr. Newman’s book provided by the Provost's Office.
  • A select number of students registering will also have an opportunity to get a copy of the book courtesy of the Dean’s Office in the College of Liberal Arts.

This event is co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s office, the Provost’s Office, and Faculty Career Development in the Innovative Learning Institute.
