New chairs, unit heads, and program directors will receive an invitation.

Presenter: Tina Chapman DaCosta, MFA, MPD, Director of Diversity Theater, Division of Diversity and Inclusion

Participants will engage in activities that identify conflict-handling modes and interpersonal communication styles and examine opportunities and challenges facing department chairs and unit heads. Discussion groups will be used to address the challenges presented and there will be hands-on practice of techniques for fostering inclusive conversations around sensitive topics such as handling conflicts, managing crises, and building sense of community. The Thomas-Kilmann Assessment Instrument (TKI) will be used to identify and discuss personal conflict-handling styles. Faculty Development will be purchasing the TKI to be completed online prior to the workshop; instructions on how to access will be sent to all registrants.
