Department Chair Series
Faculty Evaluation: Developing Confidence and Building Skills

January 26, 2:00-3:30 pm

Please register by JANUARY 3 so materials can be provided to you in advance.

Writing annual performance reviews is the least favorite task for most department chairs.  Chairs just aren’t always prepared for the dynamics and requirements of this process. Join Vice Provost Christine Licata and chair colleagues for a workshop designed to help you develop your own strategies for writing effective and defensible appraisals that are both summative and formative in nature.

You will be working from Jeffrey L. Buller’s book: Best Practices in Faculty Evaluation available as an e-book in our library via this Permanent Link. If you are accessing the library from off campus, you will be prompted to login with your RIT username and password.  Workshop discussions will be based on specific readings and case studies from this book (you will be emailed the assignments). Discussion will center on how to prepare for writing the annual review and conducting review meetings.  The goal of this session is to assist you in feeling more confident, competent, and comfortable with the faculty evaluation process.

Hosted by Office of Faculty Affairs, Faculty Career Development.

The deadline to register for this event is Friday, December 17, 2021 at 12:00pm.
