Department Chair Series: Emotional Intelligence
February 9, 2-3:30 pm

This interactive workshop focuses on foundational concepts and understanding individual Emotional Intelligence reports. Attendees will participate in individual activities and a small group exercise at the end.

Exploring Emotional Intelligence (EQ) focuses leaders on understanding their own emotions in order to better understand, hear, respect and work with others. The skills associated with EQ support the leader’s ability to respond to situations and people in keeping with who they are rather than what’s emotionally happening in the moment – particularly under challenging circumstances. Participants gain individualized perspective on their own EQ scores and explore strategies and tools for improvement in each of four domains – Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness and Relationship Management.

Prior to the workshop participants should:

  • Read Chapters 1 and 2 in the book.
  • Take the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal® (instructions are available in the book).
  • Bring your report and book with you to the workshop.
